You know I find all this guff about being “a legend” a trifle embarrassing. This is after all the kind of hyperbole that was once lavished on the Victorians favorite novelist Edward Bulwer-Lytton who is now only known as Snoopy’s inspiration for “It was a dark and stormy night…” But nobody would say much of anything were it not for the courage of our terrifying first boss at BBC Radio 5 Live, Jenny Abramsky, who decided to give the untried talent a shot — at 2AM. So, on the grounds that nobody can have listened to every 3- and later 4- hour episode, I have been fishing in that well-stocked pond, adding the merest soupçon of new flavors to set each one off.
